City of Champions

Boston, Massachusetts, one of the most unique and most beautiful cities in the world. Boston, or Bean-Town, known for its amazing Boston Baked Beans is home to some of the most storied sports franchises in the world.

The Hub of the Universe, or should I say, The Hub of Sports, has emerged as the City of Champions since 2000. All four of its major sporting teams have made appearances in the playoffs in multiple years, with three out of the four teams winning a title.

The Boston Red Sox ended their curse of the Bambino and won their first World Series title since 1918 in 2004. The beloved Red Sox had the greatest and most historic come-back of all time against the hated New York Yankees, and then went on to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals. The Red Sox, two years later, went on to win their second title of the decade and become the first team to win two World Series titles in the 21st century.

The New England Patriots became the NFL’s latest dynasty; winning three out of four Super Bowls. The emergence of quarterback Tom Brady helped take this team to the promised land and even to an undefeated, 16-0, regular season in 2007. With Brady, and head coach Bill Belichick at the helm, the Patriots have always been a contender for the Super Bowl.

The Boston Celtics, the greatest franchise in the NBA, regain their storied success in 2008. The team’s general manager, Danny Ainge, went out and got himself a new version of the “Big Three.” Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen came to town via trade and joined the team’s captain Paul Pierce and went on to defeat their infamous foe, the Los Angeles Lakers, to win their 17th title. The team is still in the hunt and is still very much hungry for another title. After a heart-breaking loss at the hands of the Lakers in game seven of the Finals last year, the Big Three are at it again.

The Boston Bruins look to be on pace for success. Despite their horrifying blown 3-0 series lead against the Philadelphia Flyers last year, this team looks to have all the right pieces for success. With young star, Tyler Seguin, being drafted, the Bruins now have a cornerstone to their franchise. Adding Seguin, with young goal tender Tuukka Rask, and team captain Zdeno Chara, the team demands success.

With all of the four teams in Boston in the hunt for titles, Boston is proving itself to be the City of Champions yet again. The Hub was already titled that name in the mid 2000s, but now it looks to regain that title.
